Robert Butler

Robert "Bob" Alfred Butler, 83, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park, with full military honors.
Rosary: 6 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Bob was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Dorothy and Henry Butler, who preceded him in death. He married Sybil Ann Reid of Randolph Air Force Base on June 3, 1955. He graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in Plattsburgh, N.Y., in 1948, and was a graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a B.S. degree in education. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He served in the Korean War, Minuteman Missile Program and Vietnam. Bob taught special education at Castleberry High School from 1976-1991. Bob was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and served on various committees and programs. Bob was known to his family and friends as a most kind and generous person. He never passed up an opportunity to be of help to a person and their needs. A better word to describe Bob would be "a good Samaritan" to all. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors: Wife, Sybil; children, Reid Butler of Amity, Ark., Henry Butler and wife, Kathy, of Fort Worth, Cregg Butler of Phoenix, Ariz., Beth Schacher and husband, Robert, of Fort Worth; grandson, Jakob Joseph Butler of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Brittany Butler of Fort Worth; and brothers, Francis Butler of Saranac, N.Y., and Jon Butler of Albany, N.Y.
