LYON MOUNTAIN - Diane "Nin" Cayea of 2853 Standish Road, Lyon Mountain died on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital, Elizabethtown, N.Y., surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Aug. 24, 1942 in Plattsburgh, N.Y., she was the daughter of Francis and Blanche (Charland) Dupraw.
She married Frederick M. Cayea, (Peanut), on July 11, 1957 at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain, N.Y.
Diane retired from Georgia Pacific Corporation after 30 years. She also worked many years during the fall, taking 2 weeks vacation from Georgia Pacific, to pick apples at Clark and Thew Orchards in Peru, N.Y. Prior to working at Georgia Pacific, she was employed at the Orange Julep in Plattsburgh.
Diane was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was a Den mother for the Cub Scouts. Diane liked to travel and enjoyed her family vacations to Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Cancun, Virginia Beach and Maine. Over the past few years she was thankful for the opportunity to take Caribbean cruises and to scoot around the ship and beaches on her motorized scooter. During her healthier years she loved her trips to visit her brother in Groton, Conn. and New Orleans. Nin loved flowers and had several beautiful flower gardens. She spent many hours in August picking and cleaning berries from her berry garden. She loved to read and do arts and crafts. Through the years she crocheted afghans and Christmas stockings for all of her children and grandchildren. She liked doing the crossword puzzle in the daily paper, playing cards and board games. But her greatest joy was her family. Diane loved to collect Beanie Babies with her grandchildren. She not only was the best mom in the world to her children, she was a loving mother tho several of her children's friends. She spent countless hours transporting her children and their friends to various sporting events.
Diane is survived by four children and their spouses, Frederick and Marge Cayea, Jr. of Cohoes, N.Y., Mark and Pamela Cayea of Winterhaven, Fla., MonaLee and Mike Siskavich of Lyon Mountain, Tammy Cayea and her fiancé, Terry Guynup of Cadyville; two sisters, Sandy Roberts and her husband, Edsel of Standish, Charlene and Bruce Dashnaw, Sr. of Saranac; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Butch Wing, Crystal and Dave Day, Trisha and John Fitzgerald, Michael and Colby Siskavich, Johnathon Cayea, Shane and Kathleen Kosinski, Shawna and Ryan Nelson, Matt Kosinski, Korynn and Kaitlyn Guynup; ten great-grandchildren, Butchie, Justin, Jashiah, Mason, Jackson, Evan, Miranda, Abigale, Shane and Landon; several nieces, nephews and loving in-laws.
She was predeceased by her husband, "Peanut" on Feb. 16, 2015; her parents; a brother, Douglas H. Dupraw; a sister, Mona Lee Dupraw; a grandson, Stephen Whalen and a great-grandson, Luke Siskavich.
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday, March 25 at St. Bernard's Church, Lyon Mountain. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Ted Crosby officiating.
Spring burial will take place at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Lyon Mountain.
